Inmate Found Guilty of Promoting Prison Contraband

On April 25, 2012, after a jury trial in the Seneca County Court, defendant Jarrett Johnson, 21 years old, formerly of Syracuse, was convicted of promoting prison contraband in the second degree.  Johnson’s conviction resulted from his possession of contraband, consisting of a small metal object that was discovered in a body cavity during a strip search by correction officers while Johnson was confined as an inmate at Five Points Correctional Facility in Romulus on August 14, 2011.  Johnson, who is currently housed at Green Haven Correctional Facility, is serving an eight-year sentence for a 2010 robbery that occurred in Onondaga County.  Johnson will be sentenced by County Judge Dennis Bender on June 4, 2012.  Seneca County District Attorney Barry Porsch prosecuted the case.  Assistant Public Defender John Nabinger represented the defendant.
