Ovid Garage Fire

  On July 8, 2012 at 0935 hrs Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that Sheriff’s Deputies investigated a structure fire at 2137 West Wycoff Road in the Town of Ovid. Upon the arrival of Sheriff’s Deputies the structure which was being used as a garage was completely engulfed in flames. The building was owned Robert A. Mandigo age 41 of the same address. There were 6 people home at the time of the fire. They were 2 adults Michael T. McConnell age 22 and Cori R. Mandigo age 32 and their four children.  There ages range from 3 to 1 years old. It took firefighters from Ovid, Lodi, Interlaken, Hector, Varick, Romulus, and Trumansburg to bring the blaze under control in about 30 minutes.  The cause of the fire was ruled accidental electrical. There was no insurance on the building and it was a complete loss. There were no injuries reporte d. South Seneca Ambulance also responded to the scene and assisted.
