Canandaigua Woman Arrested For Welfare Fraud

41 year old Michelle K. McNiece of Canandaigua was charged with one count each of Welfare Fraud in the 4th degree and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the 1st degree following an investigation that revealed she had failed to report the household income of her husband and filed a benefit application request with the Ontario County Department of Social Services that contained false information. Consequently, she received $2,807.46 in Medical Assistance benefits to which she was not entitled. She was issued an Appearance Ticket and released to appear in the Hopewell Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
