DESCRIPTION:International jazz powerhouse, composer, author and political activist Gilad Atzmon comes together once again with pianist-singer Rich Siegel for a spoken word and musical dialogue against war and apartheid in the Middle East.
Atzmon's novels have been published in 24 languages and his political writings in numerous dissident magazines such as Counterpunch as well as mainstream press, The Guardian.  John Fordham in his review of Atzmon's album In Loving Memory of America, says "Gilad Atzmon, the expat Israeli saxophonist/clarinetist, combines thrilling jazz musicianship with a maverick political intelligence."
London based Atzmon has performed and recorded with the likes of Robbie Williams, Sinead O'Connor and Paul McCartney and is a veteran member of the punk band, The Blockheads.  Gilad has toured the world with his unique blend of Jewish Jazz. With his group the Orient House Ensemble, he plays a mixture of World, Balkan, Arabic and Jewish music within a jazz idiom. The London Times calls him, "the hardest-gigging man in British jazz...the music is subtle, ambiguous, often beautiful - ... a saxophonist playing deep from the heart."
The event is a fundraiser for the Deir Yassin Remembered Scholarship Fund.Admission $18.
