'Luck of the Irish' Mead Celebration @ Montezuma Winery iCal

Saturday, March 16 2013 11:00 AM - 5:00 AM

March 16th and 17th at Montezuma Winery & Hidden Marsh Distillery, visitors will be treated to a special sampling of all our mead wines paired with a variety of Irish foods, and get a chance to see how mead is made. Live Irish music on Saturday from 12-3pm. Fee $10/person.

Mead, the drink of Irish Kings, is the oldest alcoholic drink known to man. First references to mead are reported to be thousands of years old! Cave drawings have been found of ancient civilizations mixing honey and water, which would ferment via natural airborne yeast strains.

Made from water, yeast and honey, mead can be made in a variety of styles ranging from sweet to dry. The honey flavor is dominate and expresses the aroma of flower nectars. Mead produces a serenely lyrical relaxation and is a perfect enhancement to gatherings, celebrations, or anytime romance is afoot!
