Saturday, July 20 2013 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Step back in time with the 1913 Walk into the Past, a Canandaigua Centennial event. On July 19 and 20, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., the Ontario County Historical Society presents a series of eight theatrical street performances. The performances will give a glimpse into the world of 1913 Canandaigua.
The eight scenes - located throughout downtown Canandaigua - will recreate life as it was when Canandaigua became a city, complete with public activities, community opinions and concerns as they would have been 100 years ago. Beginning at the BID office, guests will be led down Main Street by lantern and encounter a crime scene outside the local saloon. They will hurry away to then find themselves caught up in a suffragette rally, witness a wife saving her husband from the dangers of alcohol, and be part of the local debate as Canandaigua struggles with the idea of becoming a city.
Each walking tour lasts one hour, with groups leaving every 15 minutes starting at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person and $25 for (immediate) families, sold in advance. Purchase tickets and reserve a time slot by calling the Ontario County Historical Society at 585-394-4975. Refreshments will be served at the BID after the walk and commemorative centennial items will be available for purchase.
