Canandaigua NY-Farmer’s markets, CSA’s, home gardens and roadside stands are overflowing with fresh, ripe fruits and vegetables. Capture those fresh-picked summer flavors by learning how to preserve them. Hope Galens, Local Food Educator with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ontario County will present an Introduction to Home Food Preservation class. The class is designed for individuals who are interested in learning how to preserve local fruits and vegetables, but don’t know where to start. Come learn about the different home food preservation methods such as canning, pickling, jams and jellies, freezing and drying. You will also learn what equipment is needed for each method, the costs involved and how to obtain what you need to get started.
