Walking Tour of Historic Ft. Hill Cemetery iCal

Sunday, October 6 2013 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

The Community Preservation Committee will sponsor a walking tour of historic Fort Hill Cemetery on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at 1:00 PM. Join tour guide, Laurel Auchampaugh, for an informative tour of Auburn’s historical Fort Hill Cemetery.

Learn about the lives of famous citizens buried there, including Harriet Tubman, William Henry Seward and his family, women's rights advocates, and veterans of several wars, including the Civil War. The cemetery was constructed on the site of a fortified village belonging to the Cayugas, and an obelisk monument honors their leader, Chief Logan, today.

Those wishing to participate should meet at Bradley Chapel, Fort Hill Cemetery, 19 Fort Street, Auburn, NY. A donation of $10 per person is requested and tickets can be purchased at the cemetery on the day of the tour.

In case of rain, a history of the Cemetery will be presented inside the historic Bradley Chapel in lieu of the walking tour.
