Farm Succession Workshops iCal

As the generation in charge of family farms continues to age, proper planning is needed to insure a smooth transition to a new generation of leadership.  A series of workshops will be held to explore this topic and provide skills necessary for success from 6:30 to 9 pm on Wednesday November 6, 20, and December 11, 2013 at the Seneca County Cornell Cooperative Extension (SCCCE) Office, 308 Main Street Shop Centre in Waterloo, NY.  The workshops are sponsored by the Cornell Cooperative Extension Northwest NY Dairy, Livestock, and Field Crops Team and hosted by SCCCE.  Members of each generation involved in agricultural business together are encouraged to attend these interactive workshops to learn about skills, tools, and tactics needed for success in a multi-generational business. 

Among the topics to be covered are: Business Across Generations; Assessing Your Current Situation; Family Business Communication; What About Non-farm Heirs; Developing the Transfer Plan; Managing Risk-Crop Insurance; and Implementing the Plan.  Presenters are from Cornell Cooperative Extension, Ohio State, Lutz & Associates, and NYS Dept of Agriculture and Markets.  Registration is $60 per farm or family for all 3 sessions, with a $10 discount if enrolled with the CCE NWNY Team.   You may register on-line with a credit card at  To pay by check (payable to Cornell Cooperative Extension) a printed registration form is available at the same website or the Seneca County CCE office.  Registration deadline is Monday, November 4th
