Veteran Marvel and DC Comics creators and fantasy artists are among the special guests who will be appearing at the Syracuse Comic Con Heroes Expo on Saturday, November 23, 10am to 6pm, at the Holiday Inn, 411 Electronics Parkway, Liverpool, New York.
Several comic book vendors will be at the Expo to buy, sell, and trade old and new comics, and related items such as graphic novels, science fiction magazines, action figures and more.
Expo Guests of Honor will be Joe Sinnott and Roger Stern.
Joe Sinnott is a beloved comic-book artist, with a career spanning over sixty years. He is best known for his work with Stan Lee and Jack Kirby on the Fantastic Four, but he has contributed to practically every major Marvel Comics character, including Spider-Man, Thor, the Silver Surfer, Captain America, the Avengers, the Hulk, and the Defenders.
Roger Stern is a New York Times best-selling author, best known for writing Superman, Starman, the Atom, and the Justice League for DC Comics; and Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, and The Avengers for Marvel. In addition to his comics work, he has written three novels. A collection of his Spider-Man stories -- the Spider-Man by Roger Stern Omnibus -- will be published by Marvel in 2014.
Other guests of the Expo will include:
Joe Jusko, one of the best known Fantasy, Pin-Up, and Comic Artists in the world today. Jusko's career has spanned over 30 years, starting with the sale of his very first cover for Heavy Metal Magazine at the age of 17. Jusko has painted every major Marvel Comics character, and is well remembered for ahis long-running stint as a cover artist for The Savage Sword of Conan.
Joe Orsak, noted cartoonist and fantasy artist. Orsak is the creator of Captain 'Cuse and co-creator of Shirra the She-Wolf. His first graphic novel, Yellow Rose of Texas, was published by McFarland and Co. An accomplished sports illustrator, Joe also created the current mascot for the Syracuse Crunch hockey team.
Tom Peyer. A former editor for DC Comics' Vertigo line, Peyer has written stories for DC's Batman and Marvel's Spider-Man. A talented cartoonist in his own right, Peyer first gained fame as the creator of the comic strip Sideshow for the Syracuse New Times.
Jim Brenneman. An illustrator at Anchor Group Publishing of Marcellus, New York, Brenneman is also a cartoonist, painter, writer, and graphic designer, who describes himself as a “Sit-Down Comic and a Work-in-Progress.”
Admission to Syracuse Comic Con Heroes Expo is $8.00, with Advance Tickets available for only $7.00 at Cloud City Comics in the Shoppingtown Mall, 3649 Erie Blvd East, in Syracuse. And admission for kids under 12 is only $3.00.
