Argument Over Christmas Decorations Lands Man in Jail

An argument over Christmas decorations early Sunday morning led to the arrest of a 47-year-old Steuben County man.

According to Bath State Police, Michael Pygott and his wife had just returned home from a night out when he became upset over Christmas decorations that were still up. Investigators say Pygott took the decorations down and threw them out the front door of his State Route 53 home, destroying them. The couple then started arguing when Michael Pygott is accused of shoving his wife into a wall, punching her in the head several times and slapping her. The incident woke up the couple's young children. While an 8 year old attempted to break up the physical altercation, the other child called 9-1-1.

Pygott faces assault, harassment and endangering the welfare of a child. He sits in Steuben County Jail in lieu of bail
