Congressman Tom Reed came up short in 2013. New York's 23rd Congressional Candidate Martha Robertson raised more than 273-thousand dollars in the fourth quarter of 2013 while Reed spend 247-thousand to end the filing period. Robertson is also reporting to have over 500-thousand on hand. Robertson has been in the race for only three-quarters of 2013, she has closed Congressman Reed’s cash on hand advantage by $180,000. According to the report, "Robertson received strong grassroots support with more than 81% of her contributions being $250 or less and over 86% coming from individual contributions. In contrast, 60% of Congressman Reed's contributions came from Washington special interests."
