Ontario County Administrator John Garvey says he expects state approval of a 10 year solid waste managment plan by the middle of next month.
Garvey made the assessment in a report to the Board of Supervisors' Environmental Quality Committee on Wednesday. The plan's primary objective, Garvey explained, is to decrease the amount of waste at the County's landfill. All five committee members voted to accept the plan's updated engineering revisions. The County has applied for a permit from the DEC to enlarge the landfill at its existing location in the town of Seneca.
Meantime, odor control consultants, commissioned by the County and paid for by Casella, are performing tests at the landfill this week.
