Watkins Glen High School Student Brings Stun Gun On To School Bus

The Watkins Glen Police Department is investigating how and why a high school student had a stun gun in his back pack while he was on a school bus Friday morning. Police say staff at the bus garage called them and when they arrived on scene, they took the student into custody and obtained the weapon without incident. After questioning the student, police arrested a district teacher.

50 year old Kathryn Bartholomew, of Montour Falls, is charged with criminal possession of a weapon and Endangering the Welfare of Child. Authorities have not drawn a connection between the two for us. Watkins Glen School Superintendent Tom Phillips declined comment citing the restrictions he has in discussing personnel matters and the fact that this was an on going police investigation.

A school district statement said Bartholomew has been "relieved of duties at the school pending the results of the investigation."
