A 31 year old Monroe County woman died in a head on colllision around noon yesterday on the New York State Thruway near mile marker 343 in the Town of Farmington. State Police say, Deborah McDonald of the Corn Hill District in Rochester was driving her passenger vehicle in an easterly direction when she apparently lost control. The car crossed the center median and entered the Thruway's westbound lanes directly into the path of a tractor trailer. McDonald was dead at the scene. Her six old year old daughter, miraculously, sustained only minor injuries and was treated and released at Strong Memorial Hospital. The 45 year-old driver of the tractor trailer was uninjured. There were no charges filed.
McDonald was employed by Heritage Christian Services in Monroe County. Thruway traffic was limited to one lane westbound for approximately one hour following the 11:40AM crash.
Update, 4:00 p.m.: The New York State Transportation Department reports the accident on the Thruway in Ontario County has been cleared, and all lanes have been re-opened. There's still no word on what caused the accident.
