Authorities spent a good portion of the day Friday searching for a missing Prattsburgh man that was recently paroled.
Todd Casciani is a registered Level 3 sex offender. According to the Steuben County Sheriff's Office, the 45 year old left a home on Cook School Road in Prattsburgh last Monday and never returned. His family called police Thursday. After a limited ground search Thursday, a more extensive search of the immediate area was conducted Friday that included members of the sheriff's department, State Police, Prattsburgh Fire Department, State Forest Rangers and the Tompkins County Search and Rescue Team. Friday's search turned up nothing.
Casciani was convicted of sexually abusing a 9 year old girl in 1999. He was paroled from state prison earlier this year after serving time for attempted grand larceny and criminal possession of a forged instrument. After missing a parole hearing last week, Casciani is now wanted as an absconder. Casciani is 5-foot-7, 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white t-shirt under a gray sweatshirt, tan baseball hat and camouflage boots.
