Ontario County Sheriff Phil Povero spoke with us at 11 o'clock this morning and he told us rain had been falling at a rate of better than one inch an hour this morning in the southwestern portion of the County.

County Road 33 is now closed between County Road 34 and Mosher Road in the Town of Richmond. Heavy rains are continuing in the area and all motorists are asked to stay off of roads that are barricaded closed and avoid all unnecessary travel in the Town of Richmond/Honeoye area. Volunteer firefighters are responding to calls of flooded basements as water levels continue to rise. The Ontario County Sheriff’s Emergency 9-1-1 Center has additional staff working to receive calls for service during the storm
The Ontario County Office of Sheriff is issuing a travel advisory for the Town of Richmond, the Hamlet of Honeoye, and the Town of Canadice in Ontario County. Continuing heavy rains have flooded several roads in the Honeoye area. With more rain in the forecast, it is anticipated that some roads in the Town of Richmond may be washed out. No unnecessary travel is advised and we urge motorists to stay off the roads so that highway crews and emergency vehicles can reach emergency destinations. County Road 36 at Route 20A is being barricaded to prevent traffic. Also, County Road 36 is closed in the area of Jersey Hill Road near Lambo’s Mobile Home Park and the intersection of County Roads 15 and 37 is also closed due to flooding.
