A Tale of Two Different Floods

The Town of Richmond picked up an estimated seven inches of rain Monday washing out roads, flooding basements, and causing chaos for businesses in places like Honeoye.

Meterologist Kevin Williams says you can draw some parallels with the May floods in Penn Yan. There are notable differences, too. The Penn Yan floods were caused by so-called "training thunderstorms," where it's one after another after another just like box cars.

The Southwest Ontario County flooding was caused by heavy and steady rains coming down steep hillsides.
