Waterloo Pizza Hut Temporarily Closed

There is an orange and black condemned sign on the front door at the Waterloo Pizza Hut on Routes 5 and 20, saying the building is "dangerous and unsafe." The sign has been up since last Saturday following an inspection. Seneca County Code Enforcement Deputy Director Peter Brown says the restaurant is shut down until a heating issue in the building can be resolved.

Brown says they got an anonymous complaint Saturday and that "the Code Enforcement Officer found that the primary heating system in the dining room was inoperable. As a result, the minimum temperature permitted by the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code could not be achieved in the dining room, and the NYS Uniform Code does not permit the use of portable heaters as the primary heat source in commercial public spaces. In addition, there are some other outstanding code violations that also need to be addressed. Before the Condemnation may be lifted, the owners will have to either repair or replace the heating system, and address the outstanding violations."
