Legal Actions Proceeding Over Contamination From Former Geneva Foundry

Syracuse Attorney Steve Williams represents 137 property owners and people who live in the area near the former Geneva Foundry on Jackson Street who learned for the first time last year that their soil has high amounts of lead and arsenic. Legal actions have been taken against the city, Ontario County and the state for non-disclosure. In January, Williams filed notices of claims against the city and the county. A notice is a precursor to a possible lawsuit. He says he is awaiting a reaction from the city and the county.

On a separate track, a direct claim has been filed against the state.

Lawyers for the state have until May First to file a dismissal motion.
