Congressman John Katko returns to a subject he's well acquainted with, when he holds a public forum this Thursday night at Council Chambers in Oswego City Hall, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The focus of the forum is a discussion on the impact of opioids and synthetic drugs in Katko's congressional district, which spans all of Cayuga, Wayne and Onondaga Counties as well as the western portion of Oswego County.
It's Katko's seventh public forum - since he took office two years ago - and - as in most of his past forums - the Congressman is dealing with the problem of heroin and opioid addiction. This week's discussion will feature several panelists, including the parents of a young man who died of a heroin overdose in 2013.
Katko, meanwhile, continues to maintain a self-imposed moratorium on town hall meetings; a decision he announced several weeks ago due to an increase in disruptive behavior at public events; a situation that has plagued GOP lawmakers, nationwide, since Donald Trump was elected President.
