Tractor Trailer Accident Closes I-86 in Bath Sunday

A tractor trailer hauling insulation crashed on Interstate 86 Sunday afternoon in Bath, shutting down the eastbound lanes between Exits 38 and 39 for approximately an hour.

The rig left the roadway and collided with a tree, causing two of its diesel fuel tanks to rupture.  The driver, who was conscious and still in the cab when emergency crews arrived, was airlifted to an undisclosed hospital for evaluation.  His identity or condition has not been released.
