High Water Alerts Issued For Canandaigua And Honeoye Lakes

Ontario County waterways are dangerously high now. An alert was issued by Sheriff Phil Povero this morning ." The Ontario County Office of Sheriff joins with the Yates County Office of Sheriff in urging boaters to observe caution due to floating debris while operating boats on Canandaigua Lake.  Boaters are urged to operate their vessels at no more than 5 miles per hour within 200 feet of shore on Canandaigua Lake.  Boaters are also urges to observe reduced speeds on Honeoye Lake as their may exist floating debris also below the surface of Honeoye Lake"  Povero adds "Boaters are also urged to wear personal flotation devices at all times.  Estimated water temperature is 37 degrees.  Hypothermia may quickly occur after only a short period of time of being in the lake water."
