DeFrancisco on Party Politics in Auburn

It's no secret that State Senator John DeFrancisco is no fan of Governor Cuomo or his policies, but he did admit on Friday's Finger Lakes Morning News Cuomo is a master politician, which makes it difficult to strike a balance in the Senate.

The checks and balances afforded by the Republican controlled State Senate is held by a razor thin majority of 31 GOP senators and conservative Democrat Simcha Felder, who caucuses with the Republicans.

DeFrancisco said the majority party occasionally relies on eight breakaway independent Democrats, but their support comes with a price.

The Deputy Majority Leader adds it's not party politics as usual in Albany.  Rather than Rebublicans versus Democrats, it's more often a battle between upstate and New York City politicians.
