MALTA -- President Obama will be back in Upstate New York next week. The president will be in the Capitol region, visiting the sprawling Global Foundries chip fab and manufacturing site in Malta, in Saratoga County.
Obama will give a speech on high-tech manufacturing in the United States, and the importance of a good college education; the last time the president was in Upstate New York was back in late July, when he met with soldiers at Fort Drum.
Global Foundries was recently the focus of an "ABC Nightly News" story, and despite getting more than $1 billion in state aid, most believe the project has done an excellent job attracting a number of other high-tech businesses to that area.
