Next month the Seneca County Board will vote on a proposal to raise the hotel/motel room tax from 3% to 4%. Seneca County Chamber President Jeff Shipley says that's a modest hike which is still less than the surrounding area .
Shipley took a recent trip to Boston where the room tax is 14.6% . The roughly 250-thounsand dollars a year that is raised by the tax goes to tourism promotion
