The coming months could determine the future of Pastor Fletcher Brothers and Freedom Village — the 150-acre ministry he built near Lakemont, Yates County, on the west bank of Seneca Lake.
Among the challenges: In a lawsuit, the son of a former supporter is seeking more than $1.5 million in what he claims is an unresolved loan — litigation that, if successful, could cripple Freedom Village.

And former staff members maintain they are owed nearly $1 million in back pay. The brouhaha between Brothers and disaffected staffers reached such intensity late last year that the board of trustees — a group that court records show has done little for years — unsuccessfully tried to oust Brothers.
