A 24-year-old Penn Yan man, whose also a citizen of the Republic of Georgia, was arrested over the weekend by village police after he was found to have multiple weapons on his person and in his car.
When officers responded to the Boat Launch Park Pavilion late Friday night for the report of people smoking marijuana, they found Ilya Skvortsov with a large dagger and an electric stun gun. After being placed in custody, Skvortsov told police he had other weapons in his car. That's where they found a battle axe, machete, knives and other weapons.
Since he is not a U.S. citizen, Skvortsov is banned from owning weapons in New York. He was charged with nine counts of criminal possession of a weapon and sent to Yates County Jail in lieu of bail.
