UPSTATE NEW YORK -- The Daily Kos, the far-left blog that gets hundreds of thousands of readers each day, is calling Finger Lakes News Radio talk show host Bill Nojay a racist, for comments he made about Democratic congressional candidate Nate Shinagawa of Ithaca.
Bill Nojay
The Daily Kos, in a blog post entitled "Tom Reed Has Refused To Disassociate Himself From The Vicious Racism Of His Top Supporters" their is quite strong language in their critique, writing "...Do you think racism is only something you find in rural parts of Georgia and Texas? Think again. They run a Hate Talk format featuring reactionary GOP propagandists, sociopaths like Laura Ingraham, Rusty Humphries, Dennis Miller, Jerry Doyle and Bill O'Reilly. Their local hate talk host is Bill Nojay, a Republican running for New York State Assembly."
WGVA 96.1 FM and 1240 AM and WAUB 98.1FM and 1590 AM carry the Bill Nojay show each weekday -- a new segment each afternoon at 5 p.m., and that segment replayed the following morning, at 11.
28-year old Shinagawa is a former legislative aid to state Assemblywoman Barbara Lifton. If elected in November, Shinagawa would be the youngest member of Congress, by a significant margin. Currenly, the youngest member of the House is 31-year-old Aaron Schock, in Illlinois' 18th District, which includes the cities of Springfield and Peoria.
The Bill Nojay show originates on radio station 1040am WYSL in Avon, NY. Here is a statement from WYSL President and CEO Bob Savage.
STATEMENT FROM WYSL PRESIDENT AND CEO BOB SAVAGE Reasonable, fair-minded people are familiar with the tactics of the political left when it comes to attacks on public figures they regard as too conservative or “Republican.” It’s been seen repeatedly: from Hank Williams Jr., to Rush Limbaugh, to Chris Collins…and now, apparently, The Bill Nojay Show. Progressives predictably ratchet the “threshold of outrage” downwards in Herculean efforts to maintain a politically-useful level of grievance. Such is the case with alleged comments made on WYSL regarding Democrat Congressional Candidate Nate Shinagawa.
For the record: WYSL categorically denies having broadcast anything racist, hateful or discriminatory regarding Mr. Shinagawa or his candidacy. It didn’t happen. Period.
Predictably, shrill, over-the-top complaints in the form of truly abusive phone calls and web postings have been conclusively linked to a left-wing political group which is financially backing Mr. Shinagawa. The anti-Nojay campaign is merely political theater staged to raise campaign money from sympathetic progressives and Democrats.
If anyone reading this actually listened in to some of the phone calls to WYSL regarding this whole contrived controversy, you would witness true hate and intolerance – and hear a glaring example of the left’s endless thuggish assaults on First Amendment free speech. The nature of the phone calls were such that a property-watch by local law enforcement had to be requested for the WYSL premises. How classy of Mr. Shinagawa’s supporters. How predictable.
Nice try, progressives. As Ronald Reagan famously said: “There you go again.”
