Finger Lakes Museum Breaks Ground

The long awaited Finger Lakes Museum took another step toward becoming a reality Thursday with the groundbreaking of phase one, the so-called Discovery Campus at the former Branchport Elementary School. Lieutenant Governor Bob Duffy atttended the ceremonies, saying the project was identified as an important one by Governor Andrew Cuomo's Regional Economic Development Council, receving a two-point-three million dollar grant.

Duffy hinted at the possibility of future state funding for the museum.

Museum Board Chair John Adamski said the Discovery Campus will be an educational resource for the entire region.

Adamski says phase two, the campus at Keuka Lake State Park, will feature exciting attractions.

Current plans call for the Discovery Center to begin operation on Earth Day, April 22, 2013.
