At approximately 11:00 p.m. on October 11, 2012, an Ithaca Police Officer attempted to stop a stolen vehicle in the West Hill area of the City. The driver fled the vehicle and a short foot chase ensued. While approaching the suspect, the Officer was shot. The suspect was apprehended at 4:50 a.m. this morning by the Ithaca SWAT Team and is in custody.
At the time of this news release Officer Anthony Augustine, a 5 year veteran of the Ithaca Police Department, was in surgery for his injuries. No further information on his condition is available at this time.
