The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two people in connection with an investigation into promoting contraband at the Cayuga County Jail. 30 year old Benjamin Gilfus of Auburn is accused of bringing in the drug Suboxone when coming for visits with 28 year old inmate Keri Sheppard-Kline.
He faces 2 counts of felony first degree Promoting of Prison Contraband. She faces a count of Promoting Prison Contraband and 1 count Attempted Promoting Prison Contraband in the 1st degree. Gilfus was arraigned in the Town of Sennett Court Wednesday night and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of 5-thousand dollars cash. Sheppard Kline continues es to be held at the Cayuga County Jail awaiting arraignment later today on the new charges.
