If Ithaca married couple Troy and Wendy Kastenhuber were looking to spend some quality time together, some would say they went about it the wrong way.
Troy Kastenhuber is accused of attempting to rob the Byrne Dairy store on North Meadow Street in the city with a knife Sunday night. He fled the scene without getting any money. Approximately 15 minutes later, Kastenhauber is accused of robbing a Citgo gas station in the 600 block of North Fulton Street when he again displayed a knife before making off with an undisclosed amount of money. Kasternhuber was taken into custody Monday and charged with felony attempted robbery and robbery as well as a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child.

His wife, Wendy, was also arrested Monday after she attempted to pull off a robbery at the Ithaca Tops store around 3 that morning. She's accused of passing a note to a store employee demanding money and cigarettes and displayed a knife while threatening the worker. When she ran from the store, employees chased after her and held her until police arrived.
Both were sent to jail to await further court proceedings.
