Car Catches Fire After Mechanical Problem On Route 14

State Route 14 in Geneva was closed for a few hours Saturday after a car caught fire. 67-year old Roger Kerrick of Penn Yan was driving north on Rt14 when his vehicle had a mechanical problem. Kerrick lost control of the vehicle, and drove into a ditch and flipped several times. The car then caught on fire. Kerrick and his wife were able to get out of the vehicle with the help of several good samaritans. Both were taken to Strong for their injuries.

State Route 14 was closed between Snell Rd and Turk Rd for 2 1/2 hours. White Springs Fire Department assisted with the fire at the scene.
