
As parts of New York City, New Jersey, and Long Island continue recovering and cleaning up from Superstorm Sandy, Skaneateles High School is organizing a fundraiser. The school's Interact Club and district music teachers working together to raise money in the Boots on the Ground effort. Club members will accept donations in large yellow and black firefighter boots. Music teachers will collect money during upcoming holiday concerts, where T-shirts will also be sold. Money raised will benefit the Staten Island Rotary Foundation.
In a related story, Senator Chuck Schumer says New York will probably get billions of dollars in federal aid to help the recovery efforts. But it's not quite a done deal. Schumer says he's fighting to get as much as he can.
