Geneva Middle and High School were in lock down this morning due to an incident at the High School. High School Principal Greg Baker ordered the lockdown after a high school student told school officials that a classmate brought a weapon to school.
A Geneva City Police investigation revealed that a student brought a pellet gun to school. The student has been detained for further investigation by city police. Superintendent Trina Newton tells us that she believes no student was in danger.
After obtaining the pellet gun and taking the student from school, Superintendent Newton says, more measures were taken to ensure the safety of the students.
The Middle School lock down was lifted at 10:15 a.m. As of 11:30 the lock down has been lifted and all students have returned to regular schedules.
The school will work with the police department, and the student has been placed on suspension.
