Schuyler County authorities are asking for the public's help in tracking down a Watkins Glen man who failed to appear in court for sentencing Thursday on three burglary convictions.
Matthew Voorhees was free on bail while awaiting sentencing on burglary and grand larceny charges he was found guilty of back in October. At the time, prosecutors requested Voorhees be jailed immediately, but Judge Dennis Morris allowed him to go free on bail. After failing to appear in court Thursday, a bench warrant was issued for Voorhees' arrest.
The 32 year old was convicted of burglarizing homes in Montour Falls, Tyrone and Watkins Glen. He's already spent time in prison for burglaries committed in 1999. He faces up to 15 years behind bars for his second convictions.
Anyone that knows of his whereabouts should contact the sheriff's office at 535-8222.
