Congressman Richard Hanna's 5-year-old son stole the show when the family showed up for a swearing-in ceremony staged for the cameras with House Speaker John Boehner.
Emerson Hanna hid behind an American flag while his father, mother and 4-year old sister, Grace, posed for photographers as C-Span television cameras rolled Thursday afternoon in the Capitol.
After the first few photos were taken, one of the photographers pointed out that little Emerson was missing. They tried to coax Emerson out from hiding. The House Speaker even tried moving one of the flags.
Finally in the hands of his father, Emerson protested loudly, "No, I'm not taking a picture."
Grace apparently liked the attention, she did not want to leave.
Hanna's old congressional district included Cayuga and Seneca Counties and the town and city of Geneva. His new district moves him east to Utica, Binghamton and the Cortland areas.
