More people returned to work in the last month of 2012 in the Empire State. The unemployment rate dropped to 8.2% in December, down slightly from 8.3% one month prior. According to the New York State Department of Labor, roughly 34,000 jobs were added in New York last month.
In upstate New York, the unemployment rate also dropped a fraction of a point -- 7.8% in December, down from 7.9% in November.
The department released the numbers on Thursday.
