A former Cato woman is returning to Cayuga County Court Thursday morning. 40-year old Brenda Newkirk is charged with second-degree murder after she fatally shot her live-in boyfriend during an argument last October 28th, then called 911 to report the shooting.

Deputies say 42-year old Henry Davis Jr. called 911 at about 6 p.m. to report he and Newkirk were having an argument. Police say a few minutes later, Newkirk called emergency dispatchers and said she had shot Davis. Deputies who arrived a short time later found him dead.
DA Jon Budelmann tells us Newkirk will be arraigned for the shooting of her live-in boyfriend last year in the Town of Conquest.
Her arraignment is scheduled for 9:15 a.m.
