For the first time in history Wine Spectator Magazine-the world's leading wine magazine-has conducted a full-blown tasting and analysis of Finger Lakes Wines.
During the past year the magazine has reviewed 325 Finger Lakes Wines in a blind tastings. Two thirds of the wines were rated at 85 points or higher on the Wine Spectator's 100-point scale. 28-wines were given a rating of 90 or higher.

The magazine tells the Post Standard it will take a few years for the Finger Lakes to gain critical recognition on the scale of other wine regions as another generation of winemakers learn from the people now making wine.
The magazine adds that markets are going to have to expand for the Finger Lakes wine outside of just New York State.
