Grant Will Help Watkins Glen Fire Department Buy New Gear

Last week, it was announced the Watkins Glen Fire Department would receive a federal grant totalling more than 53-THOUSAND dollars to purchase an air compressor system. Fire Chief Dominick Smith says the money will also go toward the purchase of some new gear.

Smith says the grant money benefits the community as a whole.  

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program funds can go toward training, equipment, personal protective equipment, wellness and fitness, and modifications to fire stations and facilities.
