Employees at the Daikin McQuay Plant in Auburn that is closing next year will receive a bonus and severance package. Syracuse.com reports the bonus and severance were part of a contract signed on Wednesday by the Steelmakers Union. The workers will receive a $1,000 bonus within the next 30 days. As for their severance pay, the contract says they will receive severance equal to a week's pay for every year they have worked for the company. A union spokesperson says $1,500 of the severance pay will be given to them right away, with the rest being handed out after they are laid off. Last month the company announced it would close the Auburn plant by the end of next year, and will move all operations to a larger plant in Tennessee.
