South Seneca Central School District students are sponsoring a “Walk for Water” with the goal of raising twelve thousand dollars ($12,000.00) for surveying, drilling, and installation of a mechanical water pump for the Kabuki Primary School in Juba, Sudan.
South Seneca Distance Learning classes are holding the “Walk for Water” for all interested students, staff, parents, and community members at 2:15pm on the front lawn of the South Seneca School Ovid Campus on Friday, May 3rd. This event will simulate the daily ten-mile walk of young girls in Juba, Sudan, who fetch water for their families; as a result they do not attend school. The walk will be a one mile, round-trip walk from the Ovid Campus to the intersection of Main Street and Route 96, while carrying two – 1 gallon water containers.
Donor support of ($20.00) minimum is appreciated, and includes an event t-shirt. The community is invited to participate. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org or (607)-869-9636 ext. 1171 for more information.
