Newark School Plans Prom Safety Simulation

It is prom season and Newark Police Department are doing their part to teach Juniors and Seniors at Newark Central School of the dangers of distracted and drunk driving.  And Tuesday at 9 a.m. in collaboration with Newark Arcadia EMS, The Marbletown, Newark and Fairville Fire Departments Newark Central School is holding the 3rd semi-annual Prom Crash Drill.  During the drill, public safety agencies will respond to, extricate, triage, treat, and transport simulated victims of a three-car motor vehicle incident.  The demonstration also provides a substantial hands-on learning experience for our public safety providers.  The "victims" are all members of the Newark-Arcadia EMS Junior Membership Program.  376 students died in an alcohol-related accident on their prom night in 2005.
