Auburn Police: Sally Jo Widmer Had Substantial Gambling Debt

The former head of the Auburn Teachers Association reportedly had a lot of gambling debt. Police say Sally Jo Widmer lost over 350 thousand dollars at Turning Stone Casino between 2006 and 2012.

Widmer, who killed herself last November, allegedly stole more than 800 thousand dollars from the union during her three decades in charge. Police are not sure if she used any of that money at the casino. Union officials discovered the missing money during an audit in April.

Auburn Police are continuing their investigation into Widmer's death, and the money she is accused of stealing.
