Cuomo Accused of I-86 Project Slowdown

The chairman of the I-86 coalition is accusing the Governor and the Thruway Authority of working together to delay completion of the project.  Ted Bennett, who's also a Chemung County Legislator, says the Cuomo administration is dragging its feet on purpose.  He says if George Pataki had served another term, I-86 through the Southern Tier would be finished by now.  Bennett says the Thruway Authority sees the free highway as competition for the Thruway, which charges tolls.  The Thruway Authority says that's not true.  The I-86 project involves bringing Route 17 up to Interstate standards.  Bennett says completion of I-86 will bring economic growth to the Southern Tier.
