Two Pieces of Land Going Up for Bid at Montezuma Wildlife Refuge

Two parcels of land in Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge are going up for bid for the Haying Program in mid-August.  One 31 acre field of grassland hay and one 84 acre parcel.  The refuge annually provides a total of 316 acres of grassland habitat for migratory birds and resident wildlife.  Active management of these grasslands is necessary to provide the highest quality nesting and migration habitat.  Hay will be allocated on a highest bid per field basis for each field.  Sealed bids will be accepted until 9:00 am, August 16.  An official Bid Sheet is available at the refuge headquarters.

Completed Bid Sheets can be mailed to or dropped off at the refuge headquarters at 3395 US Route 20 East, Seneca Falls, NY 13148 and must contain all the information requested.

If you have any questions about the haying program or would like to see the fields, please call Linda Ziemba during the week of August 12 at 315-568-5987 ext. 225.
