A portion of State Route 14A between the town of Reading and the village of Dundee will be designated as the "Christopher J. Scott Memorial Highway" next month. Dundee American Legion Commander Tom Boorum said this process all started about 18 months ago.

The State Legislature approved a bill sponsored by State Senator Tom O'Mara and Assemblyman Phil Palmesano that honors the memory and pays tribute to the life and service of Army Specialist Scott, who was killed in September of 2011 while serving in Afghanistan.
Scott graduated from Dundee Central School in 2009 and began service in the Army. He was assigned to units including the 561st Military Police Company, 716th Military Police Battalion and the 101st Sustainment Brigade.
The September 7th ceremony is open to the public at the DCS football field. It will begin at 11:30 a.m.
