Summer Interns Develop Projects for FLI

For the first time this summer, the Finger Lakes Institute based at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva worked with local communities to provide sustainable community design expertise and planning as part of the FLI Community Design Center. A team of five student interns worked on a stormwater management plan for seven historic districts in the Finger Lakes. The plan included brochures for property owners educating them on the benefits of green infrastructure. The group also worked with the Geneva Neighborhood Resource Center to come up with a plan to manage future growth along the Routes 5 & 20 corridor on Hamilton Street. The projects were done under the direction of Cari Varner, Instructor of Architectural Studies at HWS. Find out more about the project here.
